There is something about the Person and the Name of Jesus that attracts people to Him – – – He Is the Centerpiece of all history (Revelation 7:17 “For the Lamb standing in the Center of the throne will be Shepherd…”). In the Gospels, we read shepherds, of sages, of the crowds who flock to be with the Lord Jesus (mostly for the wrong reasons); nevertheless, they were intensely attracted to Him. What makes this attraction so fascinating is the prophecy that Isaiah gives about Christ in Isaiah 53:2: “For He grew up before him like a tender shoot and like a root out of parched ground; he has no stately form or Majesty that we should look upon him, nor appearance that we should be attracted to him.” Though the crowds eventually abandoned him (John 6:66), the attraction to the Person of Christ has not diminished; He is constantly spoken of even by those who despise Him. What is your attraction to Christ? Clearly, the Babe would not even be an afterthought were it not for the Cross and Resurrection. Christ was born to die! Do you believe that He died in your place? May your attraction to Christ, this Christmas season, be something more than a mere babe in a manger. May you see Him as the Lamb who died for you and the Lord who rules over all.
