We understand church membership not to be our own unique idea, but God’s idea. He intends for the ones whom Christ purchased with his precious blood to join together to worship Him, to take the gospel to the nations, to encourage one another and build one another up, to care for one another and bear one another’s burdens. Further, he instructs us not to neglect meeting together, cutting ourselves off from the gracious gifts He provides in the fellowship and encouragement of other believers (Hebrews 10:25).
To become a member at Fellowship Baptist Church, we have a 4-step process:
Membership Class – We currently offer a membership class for visitors interested in learning more about what it means to be a member at Fellowship Baptist Church.
Membership Interview – The prospective member meets with an elder to provide basic biographical information and recount God’s converting work in his or her life. The prospective member would assent to the statement of faith and church covenant, and their application goes to church leadership.
Recommendation – At an elders meeting, the elders will review the applicant’s testimony. Upon receiving their collective approval, the candidate’s application proceeds to the next step: congregational affirmation.
Congregational Affirmation – During a regularly scheduled members meeting, the pastor briefly describes how the applicants who are desiring to be admitted to membership have come to know the Lord. Questions are fielded, a vote is taken, and with a majority agreement, candidates are admitted into membership.
The church offers a series of four membership Classes to those interested in joining our church.
These classes introduce who we are, what we believe, and how we intend to live as a church for the purpose of fulfilling the Great Commission. Taking this class doesn’t make you a member, but it’s the first step of the membership process. If you are interested in becoming a member please email:
